She lost to Melvin Ellison on March 3, 2026, receiving 46.12 percent of the vote.\n\nUpon taking office, Campbell identified education funding, job creation, quality healthcare access, and drainage infrastructure as her priority issues.\n\n## Career\nCampbell was appointed to the Robeson County Board of Commissioners on February 4, 2019, becoming the first African-American female to serve on that board. She was selected by the Robeson County Democratic Party to fill the seat vacated by the death of her husband, Berlester Campbell, who passed away on September 28, 2018, after winning the District 2 seat.
