Jill Mcalister Tipton

Jill Mcalister Tipton is the Republican candidate for Mayor of Lincolnton, North Carolina, appearing on the March 3, 2026 primary ballot [3]. She is a lifelong Lincolnton resident and a former city‑council member for Ward 3, having been elected to the Lincolnton City Council in the November 2022 general election [1][17].

Born to the late Bill and Virginia McAlister, Tipton graduated from Lincolnton High School, earned a B.A. in English from Campbell University, and completed a master’s degree in Reading at Appalachian State University [18]. She spent 31 years as a teacher with Lincoln County Schools and now works as a substitute special‑needs teacher while also serving as an Educational Tour Director for Group Travel in Hickory, NC [18].

Tipton’s public service extends beyond the classroom. She has volunteered for more than a decade with Hope for Haiti Children’s Center, participates in her local Freedom Church, and delivers meals for Christian Ministries.
