{"biography":"## Current office and 2026 campaign\nJon Wade Myers is a District Court Judge for Judicial District 33, which serves Davidson and Davie counties, North Carolina. He was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper in May 2021 and began work on June 18, 2021, filling the seat vacated by Judge Wayne Michael's retirement. He was running unopposed for re-election in 2026.\n\n## Background and education\nMyers graduated from Wake Forest University in 1988 with honors in political science. He then completed a joint Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University, finishing in 1992.\n\n## Career\nFollowing law school, Myers opened a solo law practice in Lexington, North Carolina, in 1992, handling a broad range of civil and criminal matters. For the five years prior to his judicial appointment, he served as the attorney for the Guardian ad Litem program in Davidson and Davie counties, representing children removed from their homes by social services in cases of abuse, neglect, and dependency.\n\nMyers served on the Davidson County Board of Elections for fourteen years, from 2007 to 2021. He serves on the board of Davidson Medical Ministries as secretary.
