Robert Alford Hasty Jr., known as Rob Hasty, is a first-time candidate for North Carolina Superior Court Judge, Judicial District 14A, Seat 01, covering Cumberland County. He filed on December 19, 2025. He is currently an Assistant County Attorney for Cumberland County and is not an incumbent judge.

Hasty's campaign emphasizes fairness, integrity, and experience, with a stated commitment to treating all courtroom participants with dignity and respect.

Background and education

Hasty is a lifelong Cumberland County resident. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from East Carolina University in 1988 and a Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1998.

Career

Admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1998, Hasty began his legal career as a civil litigator with Anderson, Johnson, Lawrence, Butler & Bock in Fayetteville, handling all phases of litigation including motions, arbitration, mediation, and trial. In 2012, he transitioned to public service as Assistant County Attorney for Cumberland County, managing in-house litigation, criminal ordinance enforcement, and quasi-judicial hearings. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court (Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina), U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court. He is a certified NC Dispute Resolution Commission Mediator and former adjunct instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

Hasty is an active member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of AHEPA. He is also a member of the NC Bar Association, the Cumberland County Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.

Family

Hasty is married to Yiotta, and they have a daughter named Lia.
