Mary G. Belk is the incumbent Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for District 88 and is seeking re‑election in the November 3, 2026 general election. Born Mary Denise Gardner on October 5, 1956 in Washington, D.C., Belk grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Garinger High School in 1974 ¹²¹⁶. Early in her career she worked as an insurance adjuster in the 1970s and co‑owned a family printing business with her husband, Ralph Belk ¹. She has served on the boards of the Dilworth Community Development Association, the Charlotte Catholic Foundation, and the St. Patrick’s Church Council, among others.
