Kelly Eugene Hastings (Republican) is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives representing District 110 (Gaston and Cleveland counties), where he has served continuously since 2011.
Background and education
Born June 16, 1961, in Boone, NC, Hastings earned a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University and a graduate certificate in teaching from UNC-Charlotte.
Career
Hastings served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Reserve. He later worked as a parole officer, then as a political aide to Lieutenant Governor Jim Gardner during Gardner's 1992 gubernatorial campaign. In 1997, he became a licensed realtor. He was first elected to the NC House in 2010.
Has served on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club and the Pregnancy Resource Center; member of Rotary, the Jaycees, the NC Association of REALTORS, multiple chambers of commerce, and the YMCA.
Family
Married to Anika; one daughter, Sophia. The family attends St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville, NC.
