T. Lynn Clodfelter (full legal name Terry Lynn Clodfelter) is the Republican District Attorney for Prosecutorial District 28, covering Montgomery and Stanly counties. He is the incumbent, first taking office in January 2015, and is unopposed for re-election on the November 3, 2026 general ballot; he filed for re-election on December 8, 2025, with an address in Norwood, North Carolina (Stanly County).
Clodfelter was raised in Davidson County, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990 and earned his Juris Doctor from Campbell University School of Law in 1993.
After law school, Clodfelter moved to the 20th Judicial District, which at the time included Anson, Richmond, Stanly, and Union counties. He was a partner at the law firm Poisson, Poisson, Bower and Clodfelter until 2004, then established The Clodfelter Law Office in 2005. His practice focused on criminal and domestic law, with extensive trial experience throughout the judicial district. He was first sworn in as District Attorney for the 20th Judicial District (the predecessor to today's District 28) in January 2015, and has been re-elected since; the district was reorganized and renumbered as Prosecutorial District 28, covering Montgomery and Stanly counties, following a 2018 state judicial redistricting law 23.
Clodfelter is married to Elaine and they have a daughter, Hailey.
