Amos Lewis Quick III

Amos Lewis Quick III is the incumbent Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for District 58 and the House Democratic Whip for the 2025‑2026 session. He is on the ballot for re‑election to that seat in the November 3, 2026 general election ¹¹¹.

Quick was born August 14, 1968 in Greensboro, North Carolina and earned a degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington ¹⁵¹⁶. He is an ordained Baptist minister, serving as senior pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Lexington and previously at Calvary Baptist Church in High Point ¹⁵¹¹. His professional background also includes work as a community‑affairs director and radio personality for Entercom Communications, and leadership of several nonprofit initiatives such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Violence Prevention Program, the Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, and the Boys & Girls Club of Greensboro ¹⁵¹⁶. He has served as vice‑chair of the Guilford County Board of Education and as executive director of the Salvation Army of Greensboro.

Quick was first elected to the state House in 2016, taking office on January 1, 2017 ¹³¹. He has been re‑elected in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, most recently winning 100 % of the vote in the uncontested 2024 race (32,379 votes) ¹. His current term runs until January 1, 2027 ¹.

During his tenure Quick has served on a wide range of committees. In the 2023‑2024 session he sits on the Appropriations Committee; the Appropriations – Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources Committee; the Environment Committee; the Pensions and Retirement Committee; and the Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House Committee ¹. Earlier sessions saw him on the State Government Committee, the State and Local Government Committee, and the Commerce and Job Development Committee, among others ¹³¹.

As House Democratic Whip, Quick helps coordinate the Democratic caucus’s legislative strategy and vote‑counting efforts ¹¹.
