He is an ordained Baptist minister, serving as senior pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Lexington and previously at Calvary Baptist Church in High\u202fPoint\u202f[15][11]. His professional background also includes work as a community\u2011affairs director and radio personality for Entercom Communications, and leadership of several nonprofit initiatives such as the Martin\u202fLuther\u202fKing\u202fJr. Violence Prevention Program, the Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, and the Boys\u202f&\u202fGirls Club of Greensboro\u202f[15][16]. In the 2023\u20112024 session he sits on the Appropriations Committee; the Appropriations \u2013 Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources Committee; the Environment Committee; the Pensions and Retirement Committee; and the Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House Committee\u202f[1]. Earlier sessions saw him on the State Government Committee, the State and Local Government Committee, and the Commerce and Job Development Committee, among others\u202f[13][1].\n\nAs House Democratic Whip, Quick helps coordinate the Democratic caucus\u2019s legislative strategy and vote\u2011counting efforts\u202f[11].
