Scott Andrew Jones is a Democratic candidate for the Guilford County Board of Commissioners District 2 seat in the November 3, 2026 general election, challenging Republican incumbent Alan Perdue 1. Jones, 45, lives in Pleasant Garden and filed for the race about ninety minutes before the candidate filing deadline closed in December 2025 1.
Jones has said the county's jails "can't maintain adequate staffing levels" and that the school system "isn't getting the support that it needs from the county" 1. On High Point — "I'm not happy with the way High Point has been treated," he has said — Jones supports the Downtown High Point Catalyst Project's proposed baseball stadium, arguing it could create "job opportunities that aren't tied to the furniture market" 1.
Career
Jones is a former firefighter and currently serves as executive board chairman of Tiny Houses Greensboro, a nonprofit that provides permanent, affordable housing to homeless individuals 1. He served on a rescue dive team of which Perdue — the incumbent he is now challenging — was chief; Jones has said, "I like Alan and I think the world of Alan" 1.
Jones previously ran twice for the North Carolina House District 59 seat and ran in the 2012 Republican primary for North Carolina governor, according to the Rhino Times 1.
