Hamid Hassan Kamara is a candidate for the Rockingham County Board of Education at-large seat in the 2026 election. He is a native of Eden, North Carolina.
Background and education
Kamara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Fayetteville State University and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in STEM from Concordia University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Career
Kamara has approximately a decade of experience in education. He currently serves as Program Manager for Faith in Rural Communities at the NC Rural Center, a nonprofit organization focused on strengthening rural North Carolina communities.
Kamara serves as the senior pastor of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, Rockingham County. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
