Current office and 2026 campaign

James Dallas is the Democratic candidate for Maury County Commission District 4 on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 23. District 4 elects two commissioners; Republican incumbents Connie B. Green and Mike Kuzawinski Jr. are also on the ballot 3. He maintains a campaign Facebook page, "Dallas for Maury Commission" 2.

Background and education

Dallas was born in Memphis and raised primarily in Texas near NASA's Johnson Space Center 4. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center 45. He moved to Maury County in 2018 4.

Career

Dallas works as a database administrator for Vanderbilt University Medical Center 45. He is a non-practicing attorney who briefly practiced law in Houston earlier in his career 4. He has been affiliated with the Kiwanis Club of Columbia 5.

Office history

Dallas has chaired the Maury County Democratic Party since 2021, and previously served as the party's treasurer and on its county executive committee 14. He was a write-in candidate for Maury County Commission in 2022 45, and in 2024 ran for Tennessee state Senate District 28 4.
