Michele Morrow was a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from North Carolina in the 2026 election cycle. She lost the March 3, 2026 Republican primary to Michael Whatley, finishing fourth with 5.6% of the vote (35,065 votes) 1.
Background and education
Morrow was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993 1.
Career
Per her Ballotpedia biography, Morrow's career experience includes work as a nurse, a homeschool educator, and a high school teacher of biology, chemistry, civics, Spanish, and health; she has also served as head nurse of a wilderness camp. She and her husband were missionaries in Mexico for four years 1. Morrow lists affiliations with Liberty First Grassroots, the Conservative Coalition of NC, FreedomWorks, Education First Alliance, Carolina Teachers Alliance, the Wake GOP, and several other conservative and homeschool-advocacy organizations 1.
Office history
Morrow previously ran for a seat on the Wake County Public School System Board of Education in 2022, and for North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2024 1.
