He was first elected County Mayor in August 2018, succeeding Dan Eldridge, who did not seek reelection 5. He won a second term in 2022, defeating County Commissioner Robbie Tester in the May 3, 2022 Republican primary with about 52% of the vote 6, then defeating Reeves in the August 2022 general election by 139 votes out of 10,765 cast 7.
