Andrew (Andy) J. Swafford announced his candidacy for Tennessee House of Representatives District 31 in the 2026 Republican Primary. He simultaneously ran unopposed as the Republican incumbent for Bledsoe County Commission District 2, Part B.
Swafford was born and raised in Bledsoe County, growing up on his family's farm in the Cold Springs community. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Plant Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Biotechnology and a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of Tennessee.
Swafford manages a major agricultural operation for Aviagen North America, overseeing the movement of more than three million eggs monthly across North America. He also co-owns and operates a farm and small business with his brother. He serves as Chairman of the Tennessee Young Republicans and represents District 2 on the Bledsoe County Commission.
Swafford and his wife, Maryanne, reside in Pikeville, Tennessee.
