Donnie Adams is the Republican nominee for Sevier County Road Superintendent, having won the May 5, 2026 primary; with no Democratic or independent candidates filed, he is unopposed in the August 6, 2026 general election 2.
Career
Adams has worked for the Sevier County Highway Department since 2003 and was promoted to Assistant Road Superintendent in 2022 1. He became interim Road Superintendent on September 1, 2025, following the prior superintendent's departure 1.
Office history
The Sevier County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Adams Road Superintendent on December 15, 2025, following a nomination and review process under Tennessee Code Annotated SS 5-5-111 and 54-7-104 1. He went on to win the May 5, 2026 Republican primary for a full term, defeating Tracie Widner, a Tennessee Department of Transportation project manager, 6,536 votes to 6,009 2.
