He was a long-shot candidate and withdrew from the race on March 26, 2024.\n\n## Background and education\n\nStuckenberg earned a B.S. from the University of Central Missouri, an M.A. in politics from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in international security from King's College London.\n\n## Career\n\nStuckenberg served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly a decade as a special operations pilot, flying more than 150 combat missions and earning the Air Medal and six Aerial Achievement Medals. He subsequently served at the Joint Chiefs of Staff and as a strategic policy fellow at the U.S. Department of State.
