Marie Marsh is an independent candidate for Greene County Commission District 2 (three seats) in the August 6, 2026 county general election, where she faces the three Republican nominees and other candidates 12. She is the founder of the advocacy group "Friends of the Constables," and constable advocacy is a central issue of her campaign 1. She describes herself as a lifelong Republican voter and a conservative Christian and constitutionalist who chose to run as an independent 1.

Background

Marsh lives on East Andrew Johnson Highway in Chuckey 1. Her husband, Alan Marsh, treasurer of the Greene County Republican Party, sought a District 2 seat as a Republican in the May 2026 primary; explaining her own independent bid, Marie Marsh said, "I'm running with my husband. We are one, but I am independent of my husband" 1.
