Current office and 2026 campaign
Christopher M. Stone is running as an independent candidate for Greene County Commission District 1 (three seats) in the August 6, 2026 county general election, where he faces the three Republican nominees advancing from the May primary 12. In January 2026 he became the first independent candidate to qualify for the 2026 Greene County ballot 1. District 1 serves the Baileyton, Ottway and West Pines precincts 1.
Background and education
Stone is a North Greene High School and University of Tennessee graduate 1. He works as a senior engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and is a farmer and cattleman; he is also co-founder of Sustainable Meats, a small business retailing beef, pork and lamb 1.
Career
Since November 2024 Stone has served as treasurer for North Greene Utilities, Inc. 1.
