Kristy Eden Chowning is running as the Republican candidate for Robertson County Circuit Court Clerk in the August 6, 2026 general election.
Chowning previously served on the Robertson County Chancery Court staff. In April 2022, the Robertson County Commission appointed her interim Circuit Court Clerk, voting 13-8 in her favor over competing nominee Donna Sircy, to fill the remainder of Lisa Cavender's term after Cavender's resignation; outgoing clerk Cavender had specifically recommended Chowning for the post in her resignation letter. Chowning was sworn in by then-County Mayor Billy Vogle, with her first official day on April 19, 2022. At the time of that appointment, she was campaigning as the Democratic candidate for the Circuit Court Clerk seat in the 2022 general election, facing Republican Albert Fuqua. Upon her appointment she said: "I'm thankful to the commission, and I plan on working hard. We're ready to get started, and we've got a lot of work to do." 1
