Current office and 2026 campaign

Eva Angelina Romero is the Republican candidate for Tennessee House of Representatives District 60 in the 2026 election, challenging Democratic incumbent Shaundelle Brooks. District 60 covers eastern Davidson County communities of Old Hickory, Donelson, and Hermitage.

Romero has proposed a 2% cap on annual property tax rate increases and a permanent freeze on property taxes for homeowners aged 65 and older. She supports a constitutional amendment to permanently ban Tennessee from levying a state property tax. She has also called for a new vocational and technical high school in Old Hickory.

Background and education

Romero was forced into marriage at age 14 and raised in poverty by a single mother. She became the first in her family to graduate high school and attend college. She later taught high school Southern history before transitioning to business.

Career

Romero became the first Latina to franchise with Century 21 in Tennessee. With her husband, Dr. Jamie Romero, she co-founded Solace Oral Surgery & Implant Center in Nashville. Governor Bill Lee appointed her as a Commissioner on the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, where she focused on expanding affordable housing access. She has been a Davidson County realtor for more than a decade.

Romero volunteers with Hope Smiles, Interfaith Dental Clinic, and the American Red Cross. She is establishing Project SHINE to provide free dental services to uninsured Nashville residents.

Family

Romero is the mother of five and resides in Old Hickory Village with her husband, Dr. Jamie Romero.
