Since 1999, Angela Rogers has shown a strong dedication to assisting students and families in Memphis' District 3 community through various roles. Her active involvement and unwavering commitment have been recognized with a Key to the City from Councilman Myron Lowry and multiple Outstanding Service awards. Angela has worked in Memphis City Schools as a substitute teacher and volunteer staff member in Raleigh, Frayser, and North Memphis and she has collaborated with reputable organizations like the Leadership Empowerment Center. Angela also worked for and collaborated with Young Women Striving for Excellence. Angela Rogers served as founder and executive director of A Mother's Heart, a program that supported teenage mothers who attended Trezevant High School, Craigmont High School, Frayser High Schools and many more. Her program had a multigenerational engagement, positively impacting numerous students, their children, and families over the years.

Angela's civic engagement journey began as a street captain, canvassing during Willie Herenton's historic mayoral campaign. Over the past seven years, she has served as a devoted patient board member at Christ Community Health Services and currently volunteers with Arise2Read at New Hope Christian Academy. Angela continues to dedicate her life to community service and she contributes to initiatives at Innovation Church Memphis, her family's place of worship.

Residing in Raleigh, TN, for 35 years, Angela values her role as a parent to a son and daughter, and a grandmother to two granddaughters. She also sees it as an honor to care for her elderly parents. Angela is a native Memphian and an alumna of Northside High School. Angela pursued higher education at LeMoyne-Owen College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Jacksonville Theological Seminary and received Certification in Urban Youth Studies through Crichton College and the Memphis (UYI) Urban Youth Initiative training program.

Advocating for the underserved, marginalized, and vulnerable members of the community is a significant privilege for Angela Rogers. With firm conviction and unwavering dedication, she is committed to fulfilling this noble calling. Angela looks forward to the next phase of serving the scholars, teachers, administrators and residents of District 3.
