Jeremy Thompson

Jeremy Thompson is a Republican candidate running for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District ¹. The August 6, 2026, primary will determine the Republican nominee for the general election on November 3, 2026 ¹. Thompson is one of four Republicans in the primary field, alongside Charlotte Bergmann, Brent Taylor, and Todd Warner ⁸. The district was newly redrawn to divide Shelby County among Districts 5, 8, and 9, shifting the area toward a more Republican profile ⁸. Thompson resides in Fayetteville ²⁶.

Thompson is a retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class with more than 22 years of service in military intelligence and special operations support, including assignments with the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) ¹¹, ²². He was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism and Valor in 2014 ²². His military career included deployments to Afghanistan as part of Task Force Dagger, where he conducted counterterrorism missions from August 2002 until April 2003 ²⁹. Following his retirement from the Army in 2022, Thompson became the Executive Director of the Special Operations Association of America, a nonprofit that advocates for national security policy and strategy for special operations forces ²², ²⁹.

In addition to his military service, Thompson has worked as a volunteer firefighter, an EMT, and a reserve deputy sheriff in Lincoln County ²², ²⁹. He is the owner of The Revolutionary Tavern, a restaurant in downtown Fayetteville, with his wife Lindsay ²². Thompson launched his congressional campaign on May 19 in Fayetteville, stating that his platform would focus on making life more affordable, holding institutions accountable, supporting America’s military and veterans, strengthening national security, and protecting constitutional freedoms ¹¹, ²².
