Steve Hagan currently serves as the Lawrence County Commissioner for District 4 1. The seat is on the ballot in Lawrence County's county general election on August 6, 2026 3.
Background and education
Hagan is a lifelong Lawrence County resident from Leoma. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Columbia State Community College, a BSN from Middle Tennessee State University, and a Master of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors, from the University of Alabama in Huntsville 1.
Career
Hagan worked in the Emergency Department at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Lawrenceburg for four years before joining Air Evac Lifeteam Base 110 in Lawrenceburg as a flight nurse, logging over 600 patient flights serving Middle Tennessee and northern Alabama. He earned his BSN and MSN during this period. He is currently employed as a Nurse Practitioner with First Choice Health 1.
Office history
Hagan holds the District 4 commission seat previously held by his father, Roy Hagan, who died in office while battling cancer during his term 1.
Legislative record and accomplishments
Hagan serves as Vice Chairperson of the county commission's Animal Welfare Committee, established to address stray-dog issues in Lawrence County 1.
