Davis is a Republican candidate for Tennessee's 4th Congressional District in the 2026 primary, challenging incumbent Congressman Scott DesJarlais of Sherwood.\n\n## Background and education\nDavis served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1989 until he retired in 2014, a career spanning 25 years.\n\n## Career\nIn the Army, Davis served as a Motor Transport Operator and held positions including driver, training NCO, squad leader, drill sergeant, small group leader/instructor, observer/controller, and platoon sergeant. He deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. After leaving the Army, he moved to Arizona and served as a peace officer. In 2017 he moved to Morrison, Tennessee, to be closer to his daughter.\n\n## Family\nHe is married to Cindy Davis.
