Marcia  Masulla

Marcia Masulla is a Nashville-based entrepreneur and former public servant running for TN State Executive Committeewoman District 19 in the Democratic Primary [2]. She is the founder of Roar Nashville, a brand building and strategy firm she launched in 2017 after being laid off from Gannett/USA Today/Tennessean [6]. Masulla has also served as co-founder and managing director of Nashville Fashion Week and the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund since 2010, and founded the Tiny But Mighty Fund, a nonprofit focused on animal welfare and rescue, in 2013 [6].

Masulla previously worked in the Office of Mayor John Cooper as Director of Outreach & Scheduling from June 2022 to April 2023, following a contractor role starting in June 2022 [6]. In that capacity, she focused on outreach to people of color, the LGBTQI+ community, small businesses, nonprofits, and the arts scene [9]. She is a 2018 Leadership Nashville alumna and served on its Alumni Board in 2019 [6]. Her community service includes mentoring for Vanderbilt University’s Wond’ry innovation program since 2018, serving on the board of the Belcourt Theatre for six years, and acting as Fundraising and Community Engagement Chairperson for Tennessee Action For Hospitality [6]. She was appointed to the boards of YWCA Inclusion Tennessee and Arts and Business Council in 2022, and serves on the Community Benefits Agreement Board between Nashville Soccer Club and Stand Up Nashville since 2020 [6].

Masulla ran for an at-large seat on the Nashville Metro Council in 2023. She received 5.3% of the vote (20,275 votes) in the general election on August 3, 2023, finishing 10th out of 21 candidates and failing to advance to the runoff [1]. During that campaign, she raised $18,848 and spent $39,949, leaving her with $71,783 in cash on hand [7]. She received a $3,000 donation from Friends of the Police PAC [7]. Her platform prioritized affordable housing, high-quality schools, viable transit, and oversight of the East Bank development project [6].

Masulla was recognized as a Women of Influence winner by the Nashville Business Journal in 2021 [12]. She is a member of The Table Action and BrainTrust, a national community of women business owners [6]. She completed the Emerge Tennessee program in 2023 [6].
