Current office and 2026 campaign
Wayne Yocom currently serves as the Lawrence County Commissioner for District 1, representing areas north and south of Loretto and a portion of the city west of Highway 43 12. The seat is on the ballot in Lawrence County's county general election on August 6, 2026 3. Yocom co-sponsored a county commission resolution as recently as the May 26, 2026 regular session, indicating active current service 4.
Career
Yocom retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation after more than 30 years of service, having held the position of District Highway Maintenance Superintendent for TDOT's 36th District before retiring 1.
Office history
Yocom is currently serving his eighth term as District 1 Commissioner 12. He has previously served as Chairman Pro-Tempore of the county commission; as of the 2024-25 committee cycle he chaired the Highway Committee and served as Vice-Chair of the Solid Waste Committee 1.
