Billy Daugherty is the Republican Party nominee for Tipton County Executive in the August 6, 2026 general election.12
Daugherty's campaign describes him as focused on efficient, fiscally responsible county government centered on public safety, infrastructure, education support, and economic development, and says he is running to bring "experienced leadership, fiscal discipline, and a strong commitment to public service to county government."1
Career
Per his campaign site, Daugherty's public service career began in public safety at the Tipton County Sheriff's Office before he moved into local government finance and administration; he now serves as Chief Financial Officer of Tipton County Schools, managing a total proposed budget of more than $157 million, about a quarter of which is allocated to school construction and other capital projects.1
He is a Certified County Finance Officer through the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury and a Certified Public Administrator. He was elected president of the Tennessee Government Finance Officers' Association for 2026, sits on the board of the Tennessee Association of School Business Officials, and is active in the Association of Government Accountants.1
Daugherty is a lifelong Tipton County resident who describes himself as active in his church and community.1
