Stan Harville is the incumbent Hamblen County Commissioner for District 10 and currently serves as vice chairman of the commission 1. Background and education
Harville is a graduate of Morristown East High School. He attended Walters State Community College from 1977 to 1979, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with honors from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and earned a master's degree in administration and supervision from East Tennessee State University 3.
Career
Harville spent thirty years with the Hamblen County school system as a teacher, coach, and administrator, beginning in August 1981 as a teacher at Manley Elementary School, and including tenures as assistant principal and teacher at Morristown East High School and principal at Witt Elementary School 3. After retiring from the county school system in March 2011, he served as director of Dandridge Christian Learning Center from 2011 to 2015 and as a teacher at All-Saints Episcopal School from August 2016 until July 2017 3. He then became executive director of HC*EXCELL, an education foundation supporting the Hamblen County school system, overseeing its day-to-day operations until his retirement on December 31, 2023 3. In all, the resolution honoring him credits Harville with thirty-nine years in the field of education 3.

During his education career Harville was the first "21st Century" classroom teacher at Morristown East High School, was named Morristown East High School Teacher of the Year in 1993-1994, and received the Best Practices in Character Education Award at Witt Elementary School in 2005 3. He was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for his work with Youth LEADERSHIP Hamblen County and was a certified trainer for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and a certified ACES trainer through Building Strong Brains TN 3.
