Anthony Gamble is the Democratic candidate for Marion County Sheriff on the August 6, 2026 county general ballot 12. He was the only candidate on the May 5, 2026 Democratic sheriff's primary ballot 3. He faces Republican Chris Webb and independents Michael "Scott" Burnette and Doug "Moby" Henderson 1. The seat is open because incumbent Sheriff Ronnie "Bo" Burnett is not seeking re-election 2.
Career
Gamble is a 32-year law-enforcement veteran. He earned his POST certification at Cleveland State Community College in 1994 and began his career with the Marion County Sheriff's Department in 1996, where he has served for most of his career and currently holds the rank of sergeant 24. He has also worked as a school resource officer and served as a minister at the county jail, and he has owned and operated a local business 24.
Legislative record and accomplishments
Gamble's campaign emphasizes community-focused, accountable leadership, deputy training, and investment in youth programs 24. In the community he has led the Christmas for Kids and Step for Kids programs and helped train youth football programs 24.
Family
Gamble and his wife, Shannon, were both raised in Marion County and have children and grandchildren who attend county schools; he traces family roots to ancestors who farmed and coal-mined the valley. Shannon has taught and coached youth for 30 years 24.
